You’ve seen it on Instagram; you’ve seen it on billboards – now you can get the popular Vampire Facial yourself, at two of our offices. The Vampire Facial is a nickname for using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to rejuvenate the skin. Platelets are packed with growth factors that can be used to soften and tighten skin, creating a smooth texture and tone. PRP is also used to treat alopecia in some cases.
In this in-office procedure, a small amount of blood is drawn and spun down to isolate the PRP. Once the PRP has been isolated, it can then be re-introduced to the body via injection or microneedling. “It’s a very safe, effective treatment and can be used in almost any patient,” says Board Certified Dermatologist Lauren Boudreaux, DO.
