Rick D. Pittman, MD is board-certified in venous and lymphatic medicine, is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon, and is regarded as the Pacific Northwest’s leader in the treatment of venous disease. After 28 years in private practice at his Salem Vein Center, Dr. Pittman joined Silver Falls Dermatology to provide our patients with a full complement of vein treatments.
Dr. Pittman finished his general surgery training at The Swedish Hospital Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, and went on to study under Dr. Toshio Inahara at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Inahara, now retired, was a leader in the United States in the treatment of venous disease. Dr. Pittman also had the privilege of spending three intensive months of study directly under Dr. Walter DeGroot, who is thought by many to be the father of the modern treatment of venous disease.
Dr. Pittman was the first physician in the Willamette Valley to begin using therapeutic injections (sclerotherapy) for the treatment of spider and reticular veins. To date, Dr. Pittman has performed over 20,000 procedures related to vein treatment.
Dr. Pittman has lectured extensively on the subject of Vein Disorder treatment and enjoys teaching. In 1997 he was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Vascular Surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University. He currently receives patient referrals from doctors in Alaska, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and Northern California.
