Bacterial skin infections are relatively common and, in most cases, easily treated using antibiotics. At Silver Falls Dermatology, patients in Oregon and Washington can rely on our providers’ expertise in treating these common infections.
There are several common types of bacterial skin infections which may present differently for each patient. Some examples include:
A majority of bacterial skin infections are caused by Staphylococcus aureus (staph) or Streptococcus pyogenes, which is the same bacteria responsible for strep throat. Bacterial infections often occur due to the introduction of bacteria to breaks in the skin caused by injuries (scrapes, punctures, burns etc.)
Bacterial skin infections are typically treated using topical antibiotics. In some cases, your provider may also prescribe oral antibiotics.
If you notice symptoms of a bacterial skin infection, schedule an appointment at Silver Falls Dermatology. Call your local office to set up your first appointment. If you have general questions, you may also contact us online.
